Wuqing district is one of sixteen administrative districts in Tianjin. With a history dating back to the Western Han Dynasty, it was formerly known as Quanzhou and Yongyang. It was renamed Wuqing in the first year of the Tang Dynasty's Tianbao era (742 AD). In 2000, it was transformed from a county to a district following approval by the State Council. Encompassing a total area of 1,574 square kilometers, Wuqing comprises 5 streets and 24 towns. In 2021, the total registered population in the district reached 1.1 million, with a permanent resident population of 1.14 million. The urbanization rate reached 55.46%.
