Tianjin’s Wuqing district has made great progress in promoting the development of education, and striving to provide high-quality education for every student.
Boasting the leading number of schools in the city, Wuqing has 535 full-time schools, including 345 kindergartens, 123 primary schools, 43 junior high schools, 17 high schools, 2 secondary vocational schools, 1 special education school, 3 nine-year schools, and one 12-year school. In total, there are about 18,900 faculty members and nearly 170,000 students.
It also has a teacher development center, an adult professional school, a sports school, youth activity center, and a labor practice base.
Local authorities have prioritized education when making plans for economic and social development, and have made sure to allocate a sufficient budget for education.
In the past five years, a total of 13.4 billion yuan($1.88 billion) has been invested into the development of education. This year, despite the district having a tight budget, the annual investment in education is estimated to have reached 3.2 billion yuan.
With these funds, the district is seeing new and larger schools with modern facilities. More rooms and improved accesses have been provided for 5,250 students in compulsory education and 4,860 kindergarten students.
The district actively carries out the construction of digital campuses, has created 13 municipal-level smart campus demonstration schools, and further improved the application of smart technologies in school management, teaching and services.
The district also promotes the coordinated development of basic education, special education, vocational education and social education.
